It is really amazing to know that a quick and favorable invitation to help his school to take part in the 2017 School Enterprise Challenge Competition was the outcome of an informal discussion between the newly appointed Principal Rev.Fr James Kang of St.Paul’s Technical College Bonjongo and Mafah Cornelius Kuta of New Horizon with his fellow classmate and co-founder of SMACDO ( Sports,Music,Agriculture and Communication Development Organization) Bongyu Romanus . Our discussion was based on what we can offer to his new school to make education more relevant and interesting. We proposed the School Enterprise Challenge Competition. References from New Horizon and Bishop Rogan College opened the gateway to get involve St Paul’s Technical College Bonjongo in the 2017 competition.
Take a look at this link: https://youtu.be/eDsZHmi2Sdw, this shows the formal introduction meeting of the School Enterprise Challenge Competition to the Administrative Staff of Saint Paul’s College by staff of New Horizon and SMACDO.
This opportunity attracted many other schools in the Buea Diocese like those below to show interest to participate in next year’s School Enterprise Challenge Competition. Among these colleges are the following:
It is worth noting that these schools have found the School Enterprise Challenge Competition as the most viable tool to give meaning to their newly created agricultural projects funded with start-up loans by CARITAS, a Charity Organization of the Buea Diocese.
The Students and Staff of New Horizon and their sister organization SMACDO have given these prospective School Enterprise Challenge Competition participants the assurance to support them along in this journey to transform these agricultural projects into school enterprises with the assistance of the School Enterprise Challenge Team and other expert School Enterprise participants in our local community.

Students and staff of New Horizon International School happily started this second term of 2014/2015 Academic year with the ceremonial reception of their “Planet Award from the Staff of Save The Children Alliance Orphanage G.R.A Bota Limbe ,Cameroon. There was great excitement and amazement to see the great reward of the hard work of the School Enterprise Challenge Team of 2013. The Internationalism Teacher/Coordinator of the school, who happened to be one of the lucky winners of the Runners-Up Inspirational Teacher Award 2013 had the opportunity to inspire the whole school once more about bringing business education in the curriculum. He also announced to the entire assembly that the Enterprise Challenge Team is inviting more student to join this year especially through the Traditional Nguso Dance Group which is the current school business that is booming. The entire school accepted that the prize money will be used to develop the existing school business and help other schools set up their own school businesses and enter the School Enterprise Challenge Competition in the future. It is very amazing to have the very first Public School named Government High School (G.H.S) Batoke in our cluster of Enterprising Schools in Cameroon. The staff and students are very happy getting involved in this year’s School Enterprise Challenge Competition for their very first time with their Water-Fufu Business. 7 teachers and 30 students between the ages of 11-18 years old from all the classes form the G.H.S Batoke School Enterprise Challenge Team for 2014.
To show his appreciation in welcoming the School Enterprise Challenge Competition, the Principal of G.H.S Batoke created a full time club for business in the school named ” G.H.S Batoke Enterprise Club “holding every Wednesday as from 1pm Cameroon Time.
Regularly briefing with this School Enterprise Challenge Team of G.H.S Batoke on issues about Business Planning causes them to brainstorm always in their meetings. This makes them to think already that they can run more businesses in their school added to their water-fufu business. They are thinking of a Ciber cafe business, hair dressing, ice cream business, just to name a few.
What a great start !!!
